Reyna joined City from Sunderland for 2.5m in 2003 |
Claudio Reyna came through 60 minutes for Manchester City's reserves as they defeated Bolton 2-0 on Monday. The 32-year-old USA captain had not played since City's Boxing Day defeat at Wigan because of a broken ankle.
Reyna could figure in Sunday's Premiership match against his former club Sunderland if he suffers no reaction in training this week.
With Joey Barton suspended, City boss Stuart Pearce is short of options in the centre of midfield.
Barton will serve an automatic one-match ban after being shown a red card for two bookings in Sunday's defeat by Liverpool.
Regular first-team squad men Bradley Wright-Phillips, Lee Croft and David Sommeil were also in action for City against Bolton.
Marc Laird and Ishmael Miller scored City's goals either side of half-time and Bolton had Nicky Hunt dismissed for foul and abusive language.
