Manchester City's American midfielder Claudio Reyna has signed a new one-year contract at Eastlands. The 32-year-old, who is currently sidelined by aan ankle injury, was due to be out of contract in the summer.
Reyna told City's website: "I am excited about the deal. I was looking forward to signing it.
"The club is going in the right direction and it is nice because we have everything in place to continue
the success over the next few years."
Reyna, who joined City for �2.5m from Sunderland in August 2003, will play for America at this summer's World Cup finals in Germany.
He added: "It will be nice to represent the club at the World Cup and it is just nice to know your future too - and that the manager knows that I'd like to stay here.
"I like where the club's going and it's a great place to play your football. There is really nowhere else I would like to go."
