Manchester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at Eastlands until 2008. City boss Stuart Pearce is set to send the son of Manchester United great Peter, out on loan to gain experience.
Schmeichel, 19, told City's website: "I'm delighted and really pleased and I've just got to keep working hard now.
"Hopefully I can get a few more games out on loan and a few first team games where there is real pressure on."
Schmeichel is first to admit that he needs experience before he is in a position to challenge City's first-choice keeper, England number two David James.
The young Dane said: "The aim is to get into the first team here but for the moment I just need to get some games.
"It's all about development and I'm still young in goalkeeping terms so I need to keep developing in the immediate future."
