 | KEEGAN'S VIEW |
Manchester City boss Kevin Keegan paid tribute to Shaun Wright-Phillips after their comprehensive win at Portsmouth. Wright-Phillips endured a torrid time for England but Keegan said: "You can see why I didn't want to leave him out.
"He's the best young player in England by a long way, with more courage, desire and heart than anyone I have ever worked with.
"He will go to the very top and his will be a name people will talk about for years to come."
Keegan added: "We deserved to win. This is a difficult place to come.
"But we defended well and with a player like Shaun Wright-Phillips in your team you have always got a chance.
Keegan also paid tribute to Robbie Fowler, who looked sharp, despite not getting on the scoresheet.
The City boss said: "He's worked hard on his fitness and he got the opportunity today when we lost Nicolas Anelka.
"His run to set up the second goal was outstanding, and hopefully soon he can start knocking in the goals again."
