Lens value Sibierski at 4.5m |
Manchester City have finally clinched the signature of Lens forward Antoine Sibierski. The French club had rejected City's offer earlier this week and said they wanted 4.5m for the attacking midfielder who scored 12 goals in Le Championnat last season.
But Kevin Keegan's side, who are set to lose want-away playmaker Eyal Berkovic, have agreed a deal to sign the 28-year-old for one million euros (700,000).
Sibierski could make his debut in the friendly at Rochdale on Monday.
"Antoine has passed his medical and the terms are done," Kevin Keegan told the club's website.
"We haven't been able to register him before Monday with the French FA offices being closed at the weekend.
"I am hoping to get him registered so that he can come with us to Rochdale on Monday night.
"He was captain of Lens, you don't get captain of the club without having some leadership qualities and having the respect of everyone," added Keegan.
Sibierski, who has Champions League and Uefa Cup experience, formerly played for Auxerre and Nantes before signing for Lens in 2000.
