McGivern was sent off on his Northern Ireland debut in August

Morecambe are hopeful of extending the loan deal of Manchester City defender Ryan McGivern.

The 18-year-old Northern Ireland international played five League Two games for the Shrimps during his month at the club, scoring one goal.

He is due to return to City this week, but boss Sammy McIlroy hopes he will be back to play Cheltenham on Saturday.

"He knows he is guaranteed games here which will help his development," McIlroy told Morecambe's website.
