Brightwell has made four appearances this season |
Macclesfield Town have named first team coach Ian Brightwell as caretaker boss until a permanent successor to Brian Horton is appointed. Horton was sacked at the weekend after the Silkmen failed to win any of their first 12 league games this season.
Brightwell joined Macc as reserve team boss in July 2004, having previously worked under Horton at Port Vale.
He has also played for England Under-21s, Manchester City, Coventry, Walsall, Stoke and Port Vale.
He is still registered as a player and has made 23 appearances in just over two years at Moss Rose, including four this season.
