Antony Brown has left his role on the Luton Town consortium to pursue other business interests.
Brown made sure the club adhered to a tight playing budget when the consortium was set up in 2007 in order to take them out of administration.
He told the Hatters website: "My key role has been completed and the recent new additions are of a high standard.
"I am now able to move on to focus on my business interests that have been put on hold."
Luton have already made five signings this summer, with boss Richard Money also casting his eye over trialists ahead of the Blue Square Bet Premier campaign.
Brown added: "After two years of hard work I am very proud to be part of building a squad that not only fits with the financial parameters of the club, but also to know this squad has an excellent chance of being at the top come the end of the season."
The consortium, fronted by television presenter Nick Owen, reached its aim of taking the club out of administration within 12 months of being setup.
