Feeney has made 78 senior appearances since joining Luton |
Striker Warren Feeney has hinted that the outcome of Luton's battle against relegation may influence his decision over whether to extend his stay there. The Northern Ireland international's current deal expires in the summer.
"I am having a chat with the club about a new contract, and I am keen to stay," 26-year-old Feeney explained.
"The manager (Mike Newell) gave me a chance to compete in the Championship - and once you have played in the Championship, you want to stay there."
Luton, who are just above the relegation zone on goal difference, have recently tied Marlon Beresford, Russell Perrett, Steve Robinson, Ahmet Brkovic and Sol Davis to new contracts.
Feeney, who joined the Hatters from Stockport for 150,000 in March 2005 as they were on the verge of promotion from League One, added: "It is good to see other players committing themselves.
"Hopefully, we can get ourselves up the league."
