Davis has begun his recovery after suffering a stroke |
Luton's Sol Davis is to undergo heart and brain scans after suffering a stroke on the team bus on Saturday. The 27-year-old defender is receiving specialist treatment at Cambridge's Addenbrookes Hospital.
"He's in good spirits but is just bored," Luton manager Newell told BBC Five Live Sport.
"He is having a heart and a brain scan to look into the situation in more detail. Hopefully, in three to six months, he could make a full recovery."
Davis suffered the stroke soon after he and his team-mates left Luton on Saturday to travel to Ipswich.
However, Newell kept news of the incident a secret until after the 5-0 defeat at Portman Road.
Newell revealed after the match that Davis had lost some feeling in his left side and that his speech was affected.
Davis moved to Luton from Swindon for 60,000 in 2002 and has made over 150 appearances for the Hatters.
