Boyd was unable to prevent Hartlepool's relegation last season |
Luton Town have completed the signing of Hartlepool United striker Adam Boyd in a deal worth 500,000. The 24-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Kenilworth Road.
Boyd scored 60 goals in 169 first-team appearances for Pools, and Luton boss Mike Newell sees him as a replacement for Steve Howard, who has joined Derby.
"We have been chasing Adam for some time, but losing Howie meant it became important that we got another striker in," Newell told Luton's website.
"He is a centre-forward who has a good strike rate. He is decent in the air and scores all types of goals.
"We are not trying to clone another Steve Howard, but Adam Boyd is Adam Boyd and he will cope.
"We need to continue to look to strengthen the squad for the new season."
