Livi request cash aid from fans

Livingston

Livingston are pleading with supporters to help the First Division club with their financial problems.

The board wants fans to make donations at Almondvale to help pay off creditors and deal with what the club are calling "short-term cash flow issues".

"We ask you to buy, as soon as possible, your season tickets and/or make a donation at the reception desk in the stadium," said a club spokesman.

Livi have been threatened with administration over debt problems.

The club, which was taken over by a consortium led by Italian Angelo Massone last summer, could face legal proceedings from West Lothian Council for the recovery of £280,000 of outstanding rent for Almondvale Stadium.

Massone has been trying to broker a deal for the club to buy the stadium from the council.

Accusations of unpaid player wages have dogged Livingston all season and has led the Scottish Football League threatening the club with relegation to Division Three.

Paul Hegarty was suspended as manager in April and his predecessor Roberto Landi was sacked in December.

David Hay, who was part of the takeover consortium, took charge of first-team affairs for the closing weeks of the season.
