Allan Preston admits the Livi players have to look after themselves |
Livingston coach Allan Preston has pleaded with his players for two weeks' grace before they make any decision about where their futures lie. Livi are in administration and a proposed takeover by Pearse Flynn has yet to take place.
Preston knows a number of players could find a secure future elsewhere.
"We know clubs are interested in guys like Derek Lilley and Roddy McKenzie but I'm asking them to give us one last chance, to the end of May," he said.
A meeting took place on Monday with all of the parties involved in Flynn's proposed takeover of the club, with the outcome generally considered as "positive".
But there has been no reports of progress since then, with the 31 May deadline for clubs in administration to avoid the SPL 10-point penalty drawing nearer.
"Nobody has been in touch in recent days and we don't know what's going on," admitted Preston.

"It will be the strangest end of season that I've known and to be honest it's starting to wear everyone down. "But as coaching staff we've still had to do our jobs, looking at what players we want to keep and what players at other clubs we'd like to bring in.
"But every day those players are being ticked off our list because they have been offered deals elsewhere.
"We're already losing Marvin Andrews to Rangers and David Fernandez is going back to Celtic and we're wondering how many more will go."
He pleaded with his players to wait until the end of the month before looking elsewhere, but added: "If they can't, then we understand because they haven't been offered anything by us.
"But if they hang on for a bit more and nothing happens then I'll gladly drive them to their new clubs.
