Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt targets Europa League return
Kuyt celebrates his goal for the Netherlands against San Marino
Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt says he hopes to be fit for the trip to his former club FC Utrecht in the Europa League on 30 September.
The 30-year-old is expected to be sidelined for four weeks after injuring his shoulder while on international duty with the Netherlands.
But he is optimistic he will be back in time for the match against the club where he spent five years at from 1998.
"I hope I will make it [for Utrecht]," Kuyt told Liverpool's website.
Kuyt suffered the injury to his A-C joint during training for Tuesday's Euro 2012 qualifier against Finland after falling awkwardly at the ADO Den Hague Stadium on Monday.
"It all depends on how the injury heals in the first few days," added Kuyt.
The Dutchman scored from the penalty spot in the Netherlands' 5-0 victory over San Marino in their opening Group E match on Friday.
He also scored for his club side this season in the 2-1 win at Trabzonspor as the Merseysiders sealed their place in the group stage of the Europa League.
Kuyt had been linked with a move to Inter Milan, managed by former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, but after the game against Trabzonspor the forward pledged his future to the Reds.
Kuyt is set to miss Liverpool's games against Birmingham, Manchester United and Sunderland in the Premier League as well as the Carling Cup third-round tie at home to Northampton and the Europa League Group K opener against Steaua Bucharest.
