Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson says he hopes Javier Mascherano will stay at the club despite signing another defensive midfielder in Denmark's Christian Poulsen, and that he has not ruled out Fernando Torres playing some part in Sunday's Premier League opener against Arsenal.
