Alonso was in fine form in the fourth round tie against Everton
Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso was pleased with his side's improved display in their 1-1 draw with Everton in the FA Cup fourth on Sunday.
Alonso, 27, thought the Reds dominated as the game ended in the same scoreline as last Monday's league meeting.
He told BBC Radio Merseyside: "It was better than the game on Monday.
"We've controlled the game much better. We're not happy with the mistake that we have made for their goal but overall it has been better."
Although the performance pleased the Spaniard, to let another home result slip away is something he believes the side need to improve on.
But he insists the team should have scored a second goal to prevent the tie from ending in a draw.
He said: "We're disappointed. We always expect to win home games.
"After they scored it was a difficult situation. The team kept playing the same way and tried to score but we were unlucky to not to score the second goal."
Alonso is confident the Anfield side can go to Goodison Park for the replay and advance to the fifth round.
"All the games are different and away from home we are performing quite well. So hopefully we will be able to repeat that," he said.
