Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has signed a new contract at Anfield which will keep him at the club until 2009. The 25-year-old has become a key member of Rafael Benitez's team and was part of the side that won the Champions League in dramatic fashion last season.
Benitez said: "I'm delighted he has signed, he is dedicated, professional and has a great mentality.
"He has always done a good job at Liverpool and it's great news we can include him in our future plans."
Riise joined Liverpool from French side Monaco for �4.6m in June 2001.
