Liverpool midfielder John Welsh has signed a new two-and-a-half year contract with the club. Welsh has impressed boss Rafael Benitez enough to earn a new contract and continue his rise up the Anfield ranks.
"The new manager has shown he is willing to give the younger players a chance," Welsh, 21, told the website of his representatives, Stellar Group.
"Now I need to work hard and try to force my way into the first team on a more regular basis."
