Gregory Vignal joined Liverpool in 2000

Marseille have indicated their interest in the 23-year-old, who is contracted to Liverpool until the summer and is on loan with Rangers.

Vignal said: "The situation is that a few people are trying to sign me, but I don't know what Liverpool or Rangers want to do, so I will see what happens.

"Everyone knows that Marseille have tried to sign me."

Vignal joined Liverpool from hometown club Montpellier in 2000 for �500,000 but made only 14 starts for the English club.

He was on loan with Rennes and Espanyol before heading for Scotland this season and has been preferred to Michael Ball and Paolo Vanoli at left-back.

"I am just thinking of winning the title with Rangers and then see after that," said Vignal.

"I need to know what's going on as soon as possible. Rangers haven't said anything to me about a move in January, so I will see how it goes."

Vignal has, meanwhile, urged Liverpool's Stephane Henchoz to join him at Ibrox.

Rangers manager Alex McLeish has insisted that the possibility of signing the Swiss international was not dead and had been encouraged by talks.

Henchoz is weighing up his options, but Vignal is hoping the out-of-favour Switzerland international will opt to make the move to Scotland.

"I hope he will come up here, because he is a big player in the Premiership and has been an experienced player for Liverpool," said Vignal.

"He has won many trophies, so he must be a good player and I hope he has more than a chat with Rangers. He would certainly be a great player at Ibrox."
