Lyon insist they still want to sign Milan Baros, despite the Czech striker saying he wants to stay at Liverpool. The 23-year-old rejected an approach from former Anfield boss Gerard Houllier, who has taken over at Lyon.
Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas told French newspaper l'Est Republicain: "We have not lost hope of recruiting him. Baros remains on our list."
Liverpool will demand 8m for Baros, who was top scorer at Euro 2004 and helped them win the Champions League.
Baros' representative Dalibor Lacina had said: "Milan's decision has been made easier by the fact that Liverpool are playing in the Champions League."
He added: "This is not a decision against Lyon - this is a decision for Liverpool."
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez may yet have the final say, however, as he chases Southampton's Peter Crouch and Feyenoord's Dirk Kuijt.
Baros was critical of Benitez on occasions last season and could be surplus to requirements.
