Dalglish backing Benitez
Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish
Dalglish was linked with the post after Houllier's exit
Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has welcomed the appointment of Rafael Benitez at Anfield.

Former Reds player and manager Dalglish was linked with a move back to the club after the dismissal of Gerard Houllier.

But the former Celtic and Scotland forward said the club have made the right appointment in former Valencia coach Benitez.

"Valencia had a tried and trusted way of playing and he comes here with a good CV," he told the club's website.

"The Liverpool job is a great job and Benitez will get more than 60 points this season.

"Benitez took over at Valencia from Hector Cuper and some people say it's easy to carry on in the same way but it isn't.

"Give Benitez credit, he has his own ideas and won the title and made the right decisions."
