Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez admitted poor defending was behind his side's 2-1 defeat at Manchester United "We conceded the two goals at set-pieces and that was the problem," said Benitez after Mikael Silvestre scored with a brace of headers.
"We had a good organisation but in the end there was a mistake.
"In the second half we played better and we tried to do different things, but we need to improve our level and we need to work harder," Benitez added.
