Lincoln boss Sutton confident of avoiding relegation
Chris Sutton's Lincoln need two points to make certain of avoiding relegation
Lincoln City manager Chris Sutton is confident that they will avoid relegation from League Two despite Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Shrewsbury.
The Imps can still be caught by second from bottom Grimsby Town who are eight points behind with three games to go.
Sutton told BBC Lincolnshire: "It's in our hands as it always has been, it's still eight points. Would we have taken that before the match? Yes we would.
"We'll train hard and hopefully have something to shout about next week."
Lincoln had several good chances against the Shrews, but Kris Wright's 83rd-minute goal proved decisive.
The Imps' cause was helped by Grimsby losing 3-0 at home to Torquay and Barnet's 2-1 defeat by Bradford.
Goal difference means they would need two points to guarantee safety if the Mariners were to win their final three matches.
Lincoln's next match is at home to Bury on Saturday, 24 April.
