Lincoln City caretaker manager Simon Clark believes a lack of sufficient experience in the side could be a critical stumbling block this season.
Five of the Imps' subs in Saturday's defeat by Bournemouth were teenagers.
Clark told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "No disrespect to the lads but we are limited in what we can do.
"You need the bench to come on and impact the game. It's nice to put an old head on, or someone who's played more than six games."
Clark, who will be interviewed for the vacant manager's position this week, added: "I'm not saying they don't work hard.
"But, during the game, when you look at the bench and there are four 17-year-olds, that does need addressing."
