Chairman Steff Wright hopes to raise more money for the club
Lincoln City's board are expected to agree on Thursday to call a meeting of shareholders to approve issuing new shares in the club.
At the last two Annual General Meetings a special resolution aimed at making more shares available has been blocked.
The board are now confident of success as current director Chris Travers has bought former director Ray Trew's holding in the club.
The board need to get 75% of the vote to carry a special resolution.
Potentially the issuing of shares could lead to additional money coming into the Imps and being made available for manager Peter Jackson to strengthen his squad.
