Peterborough have failed with two bids to sign midfielder Lee Frecklington from League Two rivals Lincoln City. Posh first revealed their interest in Frecklington in October - leading Imps chairman Steff Wright to say he would report Posh to the Football League.
However, the Imps have now turned down two offers from Peterborough for the 22-year-old's services.
Meanwhile, Imps striker Ollie Ryan, 22, has signed a new contract keeping him at Sincil Bank until the summer.
Frecklington is under contract with Lincoln until the summer of 2009, and City intend to open talks with him over a new deal.
However, they have admitted that they would be prepared to talk to other clubs "if the right financial deal came along".
