The 23-year-old is expected to go straight into the squad for Saturday's trip to Mansfield.

Hand started his career with Watford and was named their young player of the year in 2003 before he was sent for several loan spells.

The former England youth international eventually left Vicarage Road for Chester in 2006 and made 43 league appearances last season.
