Schofield will not spend money on any players unless it is vital to do so |
Lincoln City head coach John Schofield says he is determined not to waste the club's money on unnecessary signings. So far in the close season the Imps have only signed one player - veteran striker Steve Torpey.
Schofield told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I'm a Yorkshire man and I don't give my money away easily.
"I think that's part of my job and one of my responsibilities to the football club is to make sure that the money's not frittered away."
Schofield added: "It's quite easy for the football club to say right we're going to give you 500,000 and we'll have a gamble on that so what happens if he doesn't quite do it, right we'll gamble a bit more and before you know it your up to a 1,000,000."
