Leyton Orient boss Geraint Williams has lost his job as chairman Barry Hearn acted swiftly after losing to fellow League One strugglers Hartlepool.

The 48-year-old Welshman exit's came after a 3-1 home loss left the O's just a point above the relegation zone.

"The performance against Hartlepool was abysmal," Hearn told the Leyton Orient website. "Ultimately the responsibility lies with the manager.

"The decision has been taken to give us the best chance to stay in League One."

Orient have won just once in their last 11 games.

"Geraint is as honest and professional a manager as you will find in football and it's unfortunate things have not worked out, but I thank him for his efforts and I wish him every success in the future," added Hearn.
