Goalkeeper Glenn Morris celebrated his 100th appearance for Leyton Orient against Doncaster by turning in a man-of-the-match performance.
The 24-year-old capped his display with a superb double save to keep his team in Saturday's game.
"They only had a couple of shots before that save, it was lucky he put the second one in the corner and I managed to get to it," said Morris.
The result brought an end to a run of five successive defeats for The O's.
Speaking to BBC London manager Martin Ling said: "Since Glenn's been back in the side, he's been probably our best player. Although we haven't been getting the results, I can think of only one half of a mistake against Port Vale."
"It was nice to hear the crowd singing his name, because he's been here a long time. He's been the number one previously, now he's back as number one," Ling added.
