Former Portugal goalkeeper Ricardo is training with Leicester City.

Ricardo, whose penalty shoot-out heroics knocked Sven-Goran Eriksson's England out of Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup, is a free agent.

The 34-year-old has been without a club since leaving Real Betis this month and Foxes boss Eriksson is eager to strengthen his goalkeeping options.

Chris Weale is the current number one after Chris Kirkland's loan move from Wigan was scuppered by a back injury.

Ricardo scored the decisive penalty in the Euro 2004 quarter-finals against England and also saved a penalty from current Foxes striker Darius Vassell.

And two years later Ricardo, who has won 79 international caps, saved three penalties as England were once again knocked out of a major tournament by Portugal at the quarter-final stage.
