Waghorn has only started seven games but has scored some vital goals

Leicester City have extended Sunderland striker Martyn Waghorn's loan deal until the end of the season.

Waghorn, 19, joined in the summer and, although used mainly as a substitute, he has impressed, scoring five goals for the promotion-chasing Foxes.

The Black Cats have a 24-hour recall option but boss Nigel Pearson told the club website he was thrilled.

"Martyn is enjoying it here and we are delighted to have him. Both clubs benefit," Pearson said.
