Mandaric is in talks with Dickov about a return to Leicester
Leicester City are hoping to sign former star Paul Dickov before the start of the new season.
Chairman Milan Mandaric told BBC Radio Leicester: "He would be a good addition to the club with his experience, character and past here.
"There is a very positive dialogue. I guess we need another day before we can be more positive but I'm hopeful that we can bring Paul here."
Dickov was released by Manchester City in July.
The Scot, 35, has been in talks with Canadian side Toronto FC and is also a target of Championship side Blackpool, where he three months on loan earlier this year.
The striker played for Leicester for two years between 2004 and 2006, scoring 37 goals in 97 appearances.
