Pearson demands winning football

New Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson says style must play second fiddle to substance as the club seek an immediate return to the Championship.

"Ultimately it's about winning football - it's a results business," he told BBC Radio Leicester. "I'm not going to promise a certain style of football.

"What is the most important thing is that we're successful, and if we can play good football, all well and good.

The Foxes dropped into League One on the final day of last season.

And Pearson, who was named as Ian Holloway's successor as Foxes boss last week, says he his side must adapt quickly to life in the third tier of English football.

"We have to be able to cope with the demands of the league and we have to be able to cope with what other people throw at us."

Pearson is also confident he will soon have the fans's backing - providing they get off to a good start.

"If there is a positive response then that's great but if there isn't then my responsibility and challenge is to get people on our side," he said. "And the way to do that is to win games."
