Wright scored five goals last term |
Leeds have signed Ipswich midfielder Jermaine Wright on a three-year deal. The 28-year-old, who was out-of-contract after five years at Portman Road, passed a medical on Tuesday.
"Although there was interest from Premiership clubs, as soon as I saw the set-up at Leeds, I decided that this was where I wanted to play," he said.
"I felt it was time for a new challenge and Leeds are a huge club. I cannot wait to try and help them get back into the Premiership."
Wright made 48 appearances for Ipswich last season, scoring five goals, as their own promotion push ended in the play-offs.
"Ipswich are a lovely club and I have made a lot of friends there, but I am now focused on the challenge that lies ahead," he added.
Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell had already made a number of summer signings before the arrival of Wright.
His aquisitions include Julian Joachim from Coventry, Paul Butler from Wolves and Michael Ricketts from Middlesbrough.
