Radebe brings vital experience to the Leeds side |
Leeds United defender Lucas Radebe is to be offered a new one-year contract extension at Elland Road, report BBC Radio Leeds. Radebe's current contract expires this summer and he is set to stay even if the club are relegated.
The South African admitted he had not heard from the club, but said he hoped to stay in Yorkshire.
"It would make me very happy. If we could stay in the Premier League, I would be the happiest," he said.
The 34-year-old South African has been dogged by injury and has managed only 10 appearances for Leeds this season.
And he admitted that he had contemplated retirement before the idea of a contract extension was suggested.
"I love the club and the people who work at the club. We've been through a lot it would have been a big disappointment for me," he said.
"I would have looked to get involved in someway with Leeds, whether it's here or back home."
Radebe, who was signed for 250,000 from Kaizer Chiefs in September 1994, has been promised a testimonial at the Elland Road club.
