Leeds have rejected a 5m offer from Tottenham for goalkeeper Paul Robinson and young midfield star James Milner, according to reports. Despite their desperate need for funds, Leeds are believed to have told Spurs to double their bid.
The cash-strapped Elland Road outfit need around 5m to avoid the prospect of going into administration.
But they have also insisted they will not sell their most prized asset, striker Alan Smith.
But the pressure on the club to part with some of their best talent has been increased by players refusing on Tuesday to accept a wage deferral.
They rejected an initial 35% cut and then a later offer of 30%.
The players say they will only agree to a deferral after all other ways of raising money have been exhausted.
On Monday, Leeds were given seven more days to come up with a rescue package to safeguard their future.
Leeds face the prospect of going into administration if they fail to reach agreement on managing their 83m of debt.
The club confirmed talks had been held with "interested parties" in the last seven weeks, but a saviour for the club has yet to be found.
Potential investors are likely to be put off by the club's precarious Premiership position - bottom of the table and five points away from safety.
Leeds would expect to suffer a 20-25m loss if they are relegated.
