Kilmarnock boss Jimmy Calderwood plots SPL survival
Jimmy Calderwood knows a draw on Saturday will see Killie avoid the drop
Kilmarnock manager Jimmy Calderwood believes his side's 2-1 victory over Aberdeen gives them an excellent chance of avoiding relegation.
Killie need to avoid defeat against Falkirk on Saturday to secure SPL status and send the Bairns down.
"We will take a massive lift from this tonight and it will be a hard one for Falkirk to take; especially with us trailing 1-0 at half-time," he said.
"Hopefully we can get the result and go on holiday with smiles on our faces."
Kilmarnock trailed to Mark Kerr's first half strike but hit back through goals from Liam Kelly and Kevin Kyle to boost their survival hopes and establish a two-point lead over Falkirk.
With an eye on Saturday's relegation decider at Rugby Park, Calderwood said: "We're at home and it's not going to be easy but I'd rather be playing at home than going to the Falkirk Stadium."
Reflecting on the crucial win at Pittodrie, he added: "They were getting down the sides and Stuart Duff was causing us massive problems with Derek Young in the first half and they were getting out quite easy.
"So I had to change the system to go 3-4-3 with two wide men and it stopped them getting out.
"We created about three or four great chances and I thought it wasn't going to be our day again, but I thought we thoroughly deserved it in the end.
"We've been very poor away from home and, no matter how Aberdeen are playing, Pittodrie is a very difficult venue.
"Aberdeen dominated the first half and we were very poor, but second half we were right on top of our game.
"We thoroughly deserved our victory and it could've been more."
