First goal was crucial for Killie boss Jimmy Calderwood

Manager Jimmy Calderwood insists Kilmarnock were the better team before Robbie Keane hit the first goal of his Scottish Cup hat-trick for Celtic.

"I think if we'd got the first goal we'd have won," said Calderwood.

"It sounds like a hammering, 3-0, but until the first goal I thought we were the better team and in the ascendancy.

"When they went 1-0 up they could play on the counter-attack. We had to go for it and left ourselves open, hence the score. I can't be too disappointed."

Calderwood, who must now turn his attentions to securing Scottish Premier League survival, said of the opener: "I thought it was a soft, soft goal we lost.

"I thought goalkeeper Cammy Bell should have done better from his starting position. I think if we'd scored the first goal it would have been completely different.

"We've now got Hamilton, a massive game, next up. If we can have that kind of performance then - no disrespect - they don't have a Robbie Keane, Georgios Samaras or Marc-Antoine Fortune to change it."
