Kevin Kyle will return to Scotland on Friday with "an open mind" about where his future lies.

The Kilmarnock striker, who is out of contract in the summer, played for the Russian club Spartak Nalchik in a friendly match in Turkey.

Kyle did not score but helped set up one of the goals in a 3-0 victory over Zhemchuzhina Sochi.

"I've not decided on anything. I've just come out to speak to them," said Kyle. "I enjoyed the experience."

Kyle had not been given any indication by the Russian club if they wanted to take their interest further when he spoke to BBC Scotland.

He could sign immediately for Spartak, as the Russian transfer window is currently open before their League season gets underway next weekend.

The Scotland international, who has scored nine goals for Killie this season, flew out to Spartak Nalchik's winter training camp in Turkey.

However, moving to the Russian club may be an entirely different proposition.

Nalchik is 2,000 kilometres south of Moscow, close to war-torn Chechnya.

And advice issued by the Foreign Office for those travelling to the area states: "As well as an ongoing risk of insurgent attacks, terrorist attacks have occurred throughout the region, including incidents in Nalchik.

"Further violence in the region is likely and there is a long history of kidnapping in the region, while westerners are particularly vulnerable."

Kyle will arrive back in Scotland on Friday evening, with a view to being available for Kilmarnock's Premier League match with Hibernian at Easter Road on Saturday.
