Savage turned out for Kilmarnock reserves on Tuesday |
Former Brighton striker Bas Savage looks set to extend his trial spell with Kilmarnock after turning out in a reserve game on Tuesday. Killie assistant boss Billy Brown said: "He's not been training with a team so he has lost a bit of his match fitness.
"We have invited him back up to train so we will just have to wait to see if he wants to do that."
Savage's agent, Kevin Horton, said the 26-year-old was "highly likely" to take up that offer.
Horton added: "He thoroughly enjoyed it and was impressed with the club and the manager Jim Jefferies in particular, and also the lads."
Kilmarnock are searching for a new forward to replace Colin Nish, who left for Hibs on transfer deadline day.
A move for Airdrie United's Allan Russell fell through and fans have grown frustrated at seeing the club's best players move on, while the team slide down the league.
There have been calls for protests against the board at an upcoming game.
But Brown has urged supporters to set their complaints aside.
"At this minute we need everyone that is Killie-minded right behind the cause," said Brown.
"We have got to win games and we need supporters. We don't need demonstrations.
"Any recriminations or any blame - let's leave it until we are out of this situation.
"Let's not take our eye off the ball, we need everybody behind the cause.
"Anybody who has a gripe please keep them, everybody will listen to them at the end."
