Jefferies had not beaten either Old Firm side since joining Killie |
Jim Jefferies was delighted to get his first win over Rangers since taking the helm at Kilmarnock. "Rangers never like getting beaten and it was their last home game of the season, so it's a great win for us," the Rugby Park manager told BBC Sport.
"The target was fifth-place and to do it with a win at Ibrox is terrific.
"We were well-organised and we had a lot of good performances. Steven Naismith scored a wonderful goal fit to win any game."
Kilmarnock were fifth in the table last year, despite major financial cuts and Jefferies was happy with a repeat performance.
"We got into the top five last year and to do it again with a game to spare is even more satisfying," he added.
"Hibs can't catch us now and that's also satisfying after what happened in the CIS Cup.
"Even though things went wrong for us in the cup final we still feel that we have progressed this year."
