Kettering sign Seddon from Hyde

Kettering Town

Kettering Town have signed former Rushden & Diamonds striker Gareth Seddon in a two-year deal from Hyde.

The 28-year-old left the Diamonds in 2004 without playing a game due to a persistent knee injury.

But last season Seddon scored 37 goals for Hyde and featured in the England non-league team.

Kettering chairman Imraan Ladak said: "It's taken a year to get him into the squad but I'm delighted and am sure that Gareth will be a great addition."

Seddon scored five goals in a 7-3 local derby win away at Stalybridge Celtic two season ago.

He also shared the Conference North golden boot award having scored 37 times in 47 appearances across all competitions.

During the summer of 2007 Seddon was called up to the England National Game XI squad for the Four Nations Tournament, winning his first cap against the Republic of Ireland before scoring his first goals for England - a brace in a 3-0 win over Wales.
