Bruce was dismissed shortly after Ipswich had scored their third goal

Ipswich Town have failed in their bid to overturn the red card shown to Alex Bruce during Wednesday's 3-1 win over Bristol City.

The defender was dismissed following a tackle on City striker Nicky Maynard.

Bruce protested his innocence and Ipswich supported their appeal with video evidence but an FA disciplinary panel upheld the original decision.

A second red card of the season means the Republic of Ireland international will miss the next four games.
