Norris is due to offer an apology to the Peak family in person next week

Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton says midfielder David Norris will be in his squad to face Doncaster on Saturday despite "a very emotional week".

Norris apologised for a gesture made after scoring at Blackpool on Saturday.

He later admitted it was a private message to jailed former Plymouth team-mate Luke McCormick.

Magilton told BBC Radio Suffolk: "It's been a very emotional week for everyone, none more so than David, but I am confident he is ready to play."

Norris denied making a 'handcuffs' gesture but said he was "truly sorry" for any distress caused to Amanda and Phil Peak, who lost sons Aaron and Ben when McCormick crashed his Range Rover on the M6 in Staffordshire in June after attending Norris's wedding.

McCormick is serving seven years in jail for killing the two boys while driving drunk.

Norris is expected to visit the Peak's Manchester home to make a face-to-face apology next week.

When asked whether there would be a negative reaction towards Norris, Magilton said: "I think for every action there is a consequence and David's going to have to live with that.

"If he is selected I'm sure he will be prepared for that and it's how he handles that himself."
