Angelos Charisteas has been at Nuremburg for the last year

Ipswich Town are remaining tight-lipped over newspaper reports linking them with Greek international striker Angelos Charisteas.

The 28-year-old, who plays for German side Nuremburg, is believed to be interested in a move to England.

The club told BBC Radio Suffolk they would not comment on speculation but refused to dismiss the reports.

Town have also distanced themselves from reports claiming they are keen on signing Crewe striker Nicky Maynard.

Sources close to the League One club have told the BBC that Bristol City and Ipswich Town both tabled bids. But Ipswich say their valuation of the 21-year-old is well below Crewe's asking price.
