Ipswich Town boss Jim Magilton believes Marcus Evans's takeover at Portman Road has led to clubs raising their asking price for players.

Ipswich have not yet made any close season transfers and Magilton is asking fans to be patient.

He told the club website: "The perception is that we're prepared to spend anything on a player and that's just not the case.

"We want to make sure it's the right player for us," he added.

"There has not been a lot of business in the transfer market in general at the moment because it's still early days but we are working behind the scenes, monitoring situations at other clubs.

"It's a case of being patient though. We are exploring every avenue and I'm sure our fans will be happy with the players we will bring in."

The only Ipswich signing that appears to be on the horizon is defender Pim Balkestein who is in talks about a move from Heerenveen.

Compensation for the 21-year-old defender has reportedly now been agreed with the Dutch side.
