Ipswich Town defender Richard Naylor is likely to miss the rest of the season with his long-standing neck injury. The 31-year-old has had a scan on the problem area and the results are expected to show he requires surgery.
It caps a miserable year for Naylor who has made just eight senior appearances in the last 12 months.
Manager Jim Magilton told BBC Radio Suffolk: "He's a terrific pro and he'll come back better for it, I know it's been horrible for him."
Magilton has also admitted that David Norris is "very doubtful" for Saturday's game at Scunthorpe United.
The former Plymouth midfielder is still struggling with the heel injury which caused him to limp off against Charlton Athletic last Saturday.
Town are already without strikers Jon Walters and Shefki Kuqi for their first ever trip to Glanford Park.
