Beckham is determined to continue training in the close season |
Ipswich have not asked midfielder David Beckham to train with them during Los Angeles Galaxy's close season. Beckham's campaign ended on Sunday and reports claimed he wanted to maintain his fitness in England, with Ipswich in reach of his Hertfordshire home.
But Town spokesman Steve Pearce told BBC Sport: "Manager Jim Magilton was asked by the media two months ago if he would welcome Beckham to the club.
"Of course he would but there have been no talks or any approaches made."
Beckham, 32, has already stated his intention to "keep on training and keep fit no matter what".
And Magilton was reported in the Daily Telegraph as saying he "would invite David Beckham to train with us".

But Ipswich insist that has not happened and feel that Beckham would be more likely to seek training facilities at Arsenal, West Ham or Chelsea, all of which are closer to his base in England.
Former England captain Beckham faces the possibility of playing no competitive football for five months after LA Galaxy failed to reach the Major League Soccer play-offs in the United States.
And that may jeopardise his chances of being selected for England's Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia on 21 November.
LA Galaxy are scheduled to play Sydney FC on 27 November during a mini-tour of Australasia - only six days after England's game against Croatia.
The next MLS season begins in April 2008.
