Brewster chides team over effort

Craig Brewster
Brewster bemoaned the slow pace of his side against Hamilton

Inverness' manager Craig Brewster was left disappointed by his side's lack of effort in losing at home to Hamilton.

"I don't think that the pitch helped us today, it was so slow and dry. But that's no excuse, as our play was pedestrian, and you'll never win like that, said the Caley Thistle coach.

"We were going into the game confident, as were Hamilton.

"But Hamilton didn't have to play great, and we need to be better than that at home."

Brewster was unhappy that sloppy play and a lack of urgency hampered his team's attempt to build on their opening day win against Aberdeen.

"Everything about us was done at just a jog. I don't know how many times we gave the game away from our throw-ins," he said.

"I don't think that Hamilton caused us any problems today, but we caused our own downfall.

"There wasn't enough crosses coming in with pace, it was all just looping crosses, which was great for their two centre backs and the goalkeeper.

"But you have to keep working and keep positive."
